apcFittingly, on a Monday to cure the blues away, Alt-Rock super-group A Perfect Circle return with their first new studio output in just under a decade.  It’s both shocking and makes me feel incredibly old to know that it’s been that long since one of my favorite atmospheric rock band’s has made new music.  I also long for them to return to the studio and continue to release beautiful music together.  This track is no exception.  While its emergence can actually be tracked back to live shows in late 2010/early 2011, this is the recorded version and it does not disappoint.  It fuses the dark goth undertones of the Cure with pure rock ambition of Led Zeppelin.

It appears on one of those contractual obligation Greatest Hits packages the label forces bands to put out around this time of year.  That being said, the name of the compilation is called Three-Sixty and it is set for release in both standard and deluxe versions on November 19th.

Lyrics:

Moving in and out of the shadows,
It’s no easy mission holding on to how I picture you
Showing only bits and pieces until the tide betrays you and your empty allocution,

Searching your eyes for a hint or a trace of humility
Searching your eyes for the saint is an act of futility,
Searching your eyes for a hint or a trace of it,
Searching your eyes for humility,
Searching your eyes for a hint or a trace,
I’m still searching, searching…

Showing all the missing pieces
Till the light betrays you and your empty allocution
Saw the Piper by and down the river
Caught his crippled alchemy
From pounding waves of adoration

Pied Piper float on down the river
Bloated carcass crippled me
The weight of adoration

Moving in and out of the shadows
It’s no easy mission
Holding on to how I picture you
