Canadians Francis & the Lights won me over a couple of years ago with their EP It’ll Be Better. Fantastic melodies, emotional vocals, they fit somewhere between Sam Sparro/Jamie Lidell, Hall & Oates/Maroon 5 and Fitz & the Tantrums. Francis also showed his production acumen by hanging behind the boards for “Karaoke,” one of the best tracks on Drake’s Thank Me Later album. Why he wasn’t invited back for Take Care is beyond me.
At any rate, those of you-like me-who were/are salivating for new Francis & the Lights material can stop salivating (at least temporarily.) A track called “ETC” popped up on Soundcloud recently. No telling whether this song is part of a new EP or a full-length (FINALLY) but, a man can hope for more material to surface. For now, though, this mellow groover is a total win. If you’re not familiar with these guys, please do so. You won’t regret it.
