During the next to last Blerd Radio episode, Michael Parr brought up My Morning Jacket’s cover of Erykah Badu’s “Tyrone.” Being a superfan of both MMJ and Miss Badu, I immediately hit YouTube to find it.
What I found was even better-MMJ and E. Badu performing “Tyrone” together, live.
I believe this collaboration took place a couple of years ago, but I wonder if there’s any chance we can get these two entities to get together for some original work? They’re obviously fans of one another-and they also share a common friend in Ahmir “?uestlove” Thompson. MMJ’s singer Jim James has recorded with The Roots, and ?uest and Badu go back like babies and pacifiers.
How about some more soul/rock/freaky goodness like this, huh? Please?
