What’s been even more heartening about Andre Cymone’s return to public view after a lengthy time away has been the fact that he’s utilizing his talent for a good cause. “America,” the song that’s marked his first new music in countless years, was released in support of Barack Obama’s re-election (and all proceeds from the song will benefit the campaign. Of course, it helps that the song is actually good.
A video for “America” was recently released. It’s a relatively simple performance clip. Andre looks good. There must be something in the water in Minneapolis. I hope that this song is just the tip of the iceberg and presages a full-on return for an underrated and underappreciated musical talent.
