Never judge a book by its cover. It might be very well designed  on the outside but the devil is the details on the inside. The cover might appear attractive but can also be an  illusion which makes its readers believe the inside is a good read. Open up the book to its table of contents and get a glimpse of what it is about. However, it will still take further reading to fully understand.

Ever notice the structure of a novel? The cover is very intriguing but when you flip it open everything is black and white. In some cases you have to read between the lines but for the most part as you read on, you get more of an understanding. On the flip side, there are simple covers as well. When some of those books are cracked open, there lies a colorful world of details. People are just the same but if you never get the opportunity to open them up to get a good read, human nature is to judge by what you think you see.

Some people are not the easiest onions to peel. Reminiscent of Shrek, people are like ogres. Ogres have layers. Some of the most miserable people may appear happy on the outside and vice versa. It isn’t until they open themselves up to you that you really know who they are. With that said, how can you fairly assess someone without knowing them? You won’t always be right; even when your gut instincts are yelling at you. But, we still judge.

Do you ever consider the number of years someone has lived? And, what happened to them over the course of that time? I’m over 3 decades old and my eyes have seen a lot, my body is worn, and my soul has been hurt. Excuse me for not wearing a smile all of the time but forgive me for when I do smirk in the face of danger. My pain can’t get any worse. What else is there for me to do? My soul has cried enough but you don’t know that. You see me differently. “I’m just a soul who’s intentions are good. Oh Lord, please don’t let me be misunderstood”.
