In the twenty-plus years since it’s inception, Lollapalooza has transformed from a traveling road show to a 3-day extravaganza in Chicago. This year’s lineup features an appealing mix of veterans (many returning for their second or third tour of duty at Lolla) and newcomers, with dance music (which has suddenly become all the rage) represented more strongly than ever.

Headliners include the reconstituted Black Sabbath, the newly solo Jack White, Rock & Roll Hall of Famers the Red Hot Chili Peppers and current “it” band The Black Keys. Um…were Perry Farrell and the Lolla organizers going for a color-themed list of headliners this year? I’m surprised Green Day isn’t on the list.

Other performers of note include James Mercer & The Shins, current #1 single in the country owners fun., alt-R&B acts The Weeknd & Frank Ocean, folkie faves Dawes, Bloc Party (who are apparently over the whole bickering nonsense,) Franz Ferdinand, Donald (Childish Gambino) Glover, and…shit. Maybe I should take my ass to Chicago. Who wants to go on a road trip?

You can find the whole lineup here.

Lollapalooza will take place from August 3rd to August 5th in Chicago’s Grant Park.
