Lock up your daughters, America – Aerosmith are touring North America for the first time in two years. The iconic quintet – even iconic singer/American Idol judge/crazy person Steven Tyler! – are embarking on 22 dates between June and August on the “Global Warming Tour” with fellow rock elder statesmen Cheap Trick.

It might surprise Idol‘s target audience, but before Steven Tyler took that hilarious hosting gig, he was the frontman for one of the hardest-living, hardest-rocking, longest-lasting bands in America. Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry were known as one of the most volatile songwriting duos and sparring partners since the ’70s all the way through 2001’s Just Push Play. But in the eight years since their last album (a blues covers record, no less), antics both onstage and off threatened to splinter the band.

Now, with the band still hard at work on a new album with producer Jack Douglas (who helmed the band’s classic ’70s albums), the bad boys of Boston seem ready to make yet another comeback. “The old Aerosmith is back with a new vengeance,” the typically wild Tyler said in a statement, “and we will kick your ass and make out with yur mothers.” Perry added, “Can’t wait to bring this band back home. It feels like we’ve been away too long.”

Ticket pre-sales start today, with tickets going on sale to the general public on Friday, March 30 (for the July 21 date in Philadelphia) and Saturday, March 31 for all other dates.
