If you’re a fan of R&B music, there are very few groups out there who can still give you the whole package-great singing, classic showmanship. I can’t imagine you’ll get much better than New Edition. The 6-man supergroup reunited for real this year after several years spent pursuing a variety of solo pursuits, from reality TV (hi Bobby) to real estate (Ronnie…can you imagine getting ready to buy a house and it turns out your agent is 1/3 of BBD??) to solo albums (Johnny’s solid Still Winning is in stores now.) They are celebrating their 30th anniversary (a year early), but regardless of the fuzzy math, any excuse to see New Edition in concert is a good one. I caught them back in 2003, and it remains one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. I was doing choreography all the way through the show and was still steppin’ as I left the theater.

N.E. played a handful of dates at the beginning of the year, and they recently announced a second leg of their tour. Dates and cities are below. I’ve gotta say, I’m disappointed that there’s not a date in their HOME CITY OF BOSTON yet. Come on, y’all! You’re from here!! (well, almost all of you are.) At any rate, as soon as they announce a Boston show, I’m there. So I’ll keep waiting. Patiently. Or maybe not so patiently.

Wait-does N.E. not have a legit website yet? Can someone fix this?

Also, how awesome would a New Edition oral history book be? Can a publisher please approach these dudes with a deal? I won’t even take a cut-just put my name in the credits.
