The name Frank Cascio might not be immediately familiar to you unless you’re a Michael Jackson fan, but if you are, like me, a major KOP obsessive, then that name will immediately ring a bell. Cascio was MJ’s personal assistant and right hand man for well over a decade until his tragic 2009 death. Frank met Michael when he was barely out of diapers, and the two formed a lasting, close friendship that withstood all of the drama that entered Michael’s life.

While you might look at Cascio’s new book, “My Friend Michael” with a side-eye, since everyone seems to be writing a Michael book these days (yours truly included,) I hear that this is an honest, no-holds-barred look at the man as a human being. In light of all of the tabloid drama and general quirkiness, it’s maybe hard for some people to imagine MJ as a living, breathing human, but the fact is that he was…with all of the complicated characteristics that define us as human.

Frank recently participated in a LiveStream chat to promote the book, and I’ve gotta say, my street smarts tell me that this guy is pretty for real (certainly moreso than some of the other intimates who have published books about him.) I’m looking forward to devouring this book. Keep your eye on this site for not only a book review, but a giveaway. Check out Frank’s Livestream session below.
