Apparently, singer/songwriter Neil Finn isn’t content to sit back and let his ridiculously talented offspring handle the musical load in his family. Just a year removed from Crowded House’s excellent Intriguer album, everyone’s favorite Kiwi is headed back into record stores as part of a project called Pajama Club. Originally named Pajama Party (I guess the ’80s freestyle group of the same name raised a stink?), the band consists of Neil, his wife Sharon, and musician Alana Skyring. Indie musician Sean Donnelly will join the band for their touring incarnation.

Their debut single, “From a Friend to a Friend”, is easily recognizable as the work of the man who brought us “Don’t Dream It’s Over” and “Weather with You”. It’s a breezily melodic song that makes me very excited for their self-titled full-length album, which will be released in September.

Having missed Crowded House on tour last year (bad move on my part), I am hoping that they do a proper Boston date. In the meantime, the rest of you can catch them on one of the following dates (and there are more dates being added!)

06/23: Alexandria, VA @ The Birchmere Music Hall
06/24: North Adam, MA @ Solid Sound Festival
06/26: New York , NY @ Bowery Ballroom
06/28 Fairfield CT @ Stage One
06/29 Chicago, IL @ Double Door
