Mark your calendars for August 2nd. That’s the date that Fountains of Wayne’s new album, Sky Full of Holes, arrives in wrecka’ stows and digital music outlets everywhere. This is not only exciting because FoW is dope as hell, but because it’s been half a decade since the quartet released their last album. They performed songs that (I’m assuming) will make it onto Sky Full of Holes when I saw them in concert last year, and if it wasn’t for the fact that I’d ideally like to stretch the summer months out as long as possible, I’d be wishing that August got here quicker. So I guess maybe I should just hope that Fountains of Wayne move their release date up? That won’t happen. Anyway…

Check out Holes’ first single, “Richie & Ruben”, which was released to the internets a few days ago. It’s textbook Fountains of Wayne, a well-written, highly lyrical power-pop story-song. They’re not reinventing the wheel, but damn it, they do what they do very well.
