Even though Memorial Day is just a few short days away, summer doesn’t officially begin for another month or so, therefore I have no guilt about posting this video. It’s still seasonally appropriate! Plus, I need to get out of the habit of posting Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince’s “Summertime” video every Memorial Day weekend.

Up and coming New York rapper Iron Solomon has given us a soundtrack for those warm spring days (not that we’ve had too many of those here in the Northeast-but let’s just go with it). He’s joined by vocalist Gordon Voidwell, who I missed a couple of months ago opening for Mayer Hawthorne (seeing Mayer twice in six months was just a little too much, so I skipped the show). Solomon has a pretty sick flow, and the video is endearingly cheesy-well except for the fact that Voidwell is dressed like a cross between Frankie Lymon and David Alan Grier’s “Men on Film” character from back in the “In Living Color” days…
