Singer/songwriter Bleu is a favorite on this here blog, and it turns out that not only is he a generally talented dude, but he takes the time to do things for those less fortunate as well. A couple of weeks back, he participated in the Day Without Shoes campaign (or as most hippies call it: Tuesday), and now, he’s teaming up with Artists Against Hunger & Poverty to help distribute food to the hungry.

Next Thursday on April 28th at noon, volunteer at the Somerville Food Bank with Bleu and not only will you have that good feeling that comes with benevolence, but all volunteers joining Bleu will receive a free Bleu T-shirt, guest list for his next Boston show, and a free WhyHunger T-shirt. Pretty sweet deal for a couple hours of your time, if I say so myself.

Some of the artists who have worked with this organization are Bruce Springsteen, Aerosmith, Michael McDonald, Darryl McDaniels, Carlos Santana and Joss Stone, so Bleu is in pretty damn good company. If you’re in town (which, full disclosure, I won’t be) and you can spare time from work, why not head on down to Somerville and help out the less fortunate?

RSVP using the Facebook event page and tell Bleu I said hi!!

Volunteers will be distributing food and or packing food bags for distribution.
