Chromeo’s “Business Casual” hasn’t set the charts on fire like I hoped it would-which has nothing to do with the quality of the album. Maybe America just isn’t ready for a group of funky Canadians yet. Perhaps that issue can be rectified with the album’s second video, for the song “Hot Mess”.
The song, like much of Chromeo’s music, hits that Eighties sweet spot. It’s like the perfect mix of Midnight Star’s “No Parking on the Dance Floor” and Wham!’s forgotten-but-funky Prince rip “Battlestations”. The video? Kinda weird. But seeing the chunky dude from Chromeo in only a towel shouldn’t distract from your enjoyment of the song at all.
