In probably the only instance of a song that was never officially released, becoming a favorite of mine, Child Rebel Soldier’s “Us Placers” was my personal #1 song of 2007. For those who are unaware, CRS’ lineup consists of Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, and Pharrell Williams. Hearing them rap over Thom Yorke’s “The Eraser” is what ultimately compelled me to shell out my hard-earned samoleons for the Radiohead frontman’s excellent solo album, so I guess I should thank them for that as well. While I was fiendin’ for an album-length project, I guess this new track (three years later…sigh) will tide me over for the time being.

While “Us Placers” was a somber piece, “Don’t Stop” finds all three CRS members in floss mode. While Lupe’s the only member of the group who would normally be considered an “A” level rhymer, each of the fellas comes hard on this track-and the beat is SICK. Although Pharrell (the Tito of this particular group-and that’s being charitable) loses a couple points because of a couple of unnecessarily poor word choices, this track is straight dopeness. Now can someone get these guys in the studio for an album-length collaboration, please?
