The amazing success of Eminem’s “Recovery” (chasing Lady Antebellum for the title of biggest-selling album of 2010 after only six weeks out) proves that when all is said and done, it all comes down to quality. Well, mostly. Eminem stepped up his rhyme game, matured topically (slightly), and tempered that with his most commercial sounding production to date. The result has been two #1 singles (so far) and the leaving of little doubt as to who’s worthy of the “Best Current Commercially Viable Emcee” award (because Rakim is, was, and will be until he dies-the greatest rapper alive).

The video for “Love the Way You Lie”, which has been the #1 single in the country for the past several weeks, is a fairly big-budget affair. Well, I’m assuming it was a big-budget affair. After all, I’m guessing that Dominic Monaghan and Meagan Fox don’t work for free. It’s a little difficult to watch the lyrical and visual imagery of the video when you consider that the current Poster Child for Battered Women sings the chorus of the song, but I guess that’s part of what makes it a very striking clip.

And is Rihanna taller than Eminem? No wonder they share so little screen time in the video!
